- a 20year old prototype |
| about
12 years ago a was the proud owner of a real OSCar. after doing a
lot of songs with it, i sold it for a good price but regregged it
later. the sound of this synth is so unique, you cant replace it with
anything else. Here is a pic of it. |

in september
2005 i saw a ... in a music-magazine. after some emails i have bought
kind of prototype of an OSCar. it is a real one, the pcb is exactly
as the original one. of course it didnt work and it was dirty and
looking awful. it had made a long journey from the US over here
to germany. to the right you see the original state.

the first
thing was to rip everything in pieces (after carefully documenting
the wiring) the old frontpanel was unreadable and trn apart. unfortunately
is was glued to the case. it took 3 hours to get this 20 year old
glue off.

 |
|
i decided
to get the new frontpanel professionally manufactured from schaeffer
apparatebau. the result is just amazingly perfect! i will never
make a front panel with inkjet and drill for myself.

| a pic
of the interiour. a lot of potis had to be replaced. but most of them
were encapsulated and therefore didnt suffer from the dust of the
years. |

| a pic
of the soldering side of the multiplexer board. this must have been
soldered by someone with a LOT of patience |
 |
| here
is a pic of the moogoscar in the new proper, fully functional condition. |

Here
is a sound example of it. A 5 minute arpeggio-meditation. Just the
OSCar through a Line 6 Echo Park
... and another example: live played bagpipesound making use of the duophonic-feature of the OSCar
